The University of La Verne finished 3-0 in the Leopard Classic with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-13) sweep over Whittier College Saturday in the SCIAC opener for both teams. With the win La Verne (8-3, 1-0 SCIAC) extends its win streak to seven consecutive matches.
Earlier in the day, the Leopards posted a 3-1 win over Chapman University by scores of 25-22, 23-25, 25-13, 27-25 Saturday at Frantz Athletic Court.
In other action, UC Santa Cruz topped Whittier in three sets. The Banana Slugs also defeated Chapman 3-0 in a battle of Division III independents to finish the tournament with a 2-1 record.
Leopard sophomore Kendall Kraiss was named Tournament MVP.
