La Verne, California - Today's water polo match pitted two of the top teams in the country against each other in an interdivision matchup. The Leopards took on Division I Bucknell University from the Patriot Conference in a non-conference game. The Leopards jumped out to an early 6-3 lead in the first half, going into halftime with a 6-4 lead. The Leopards maintained the lead through the middle of the third quarter as the intensity on the defensive side of the ball picked up on both teams. Bucknell took the lead late in the third quarter and although the Leopards would score three goals in the fourth quarter, they would fall to visiting Bucknell by a final score of 11-10. Nanea Mattson led the Leopards with three goals scored, while Bianca Sanchez, Jassmine Kezman, Dani D'Andrea each scored two goals. Sumi Rudisky added one goal for the Leopards. Kate Carlyle had five saves on the day.
La Verne will take on Claremont-M-S in a SCIAC match up at home on Saturday, March 19th at 11:00 am.
