Leopards Split On The Day In The Aggie Invite

Davis, CA - The University of La Verne women's water polo team split a pair of matches on day two of the Aggie Invite.

The Leopards took on Cal State Monterey Bay in the opening match of the day and were victorious in a closely contested match 9-7. The second match of the day pitted La Verne against the University of Pacific. The Leopards would fall in the second match to the Tigers by a final score of 16-6.

La Verne took an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter in the first match against Cal State Monterey Bay while holding them scoreless. Scoring one goal in the second quarter, the Leopards led 4-2 at halftime. Although giving up 5 goals, the Leopards would score 5 goals in the second half as they defeated Monterey Bay 9-7. Abby Nunez led La Verne with 4 goals in the win.

Taking on Pacific, the Leopards fell behind early, facing an 8-1 deficit after the first quarter of play. Playing uphill, La Verne would score four goals combined in the second and third quarters but the deficit would be too much to overcome as La Verne lost 16-6.

The Leopards will return back to action on March 3rd in the Claremont Convergence Tournament.
