LA VERNE, Calif.Saul Uribe netted twice and the University of La Verne men's soccer team dominated all facets of the game to blank George Fox, 4-0, on Friday night at Ortmayer Stadium.

The Leopards went to work early as Uribe opened the scoring in the seventh minute. Justin Almandinger played a cross from the left side to Briley Venti and Uribe headed in the second ball to ring in the new season.

"I was just in the right place at the right time," Uribe said. "[Almandinger] crossed it back and there it was."

The Leopards didn't settle there and kept the Bruins on their heels. Nathan Gonzalez scored the season's first goal in the 26th minute as he converted a pass from Javier Jasso.

Not four minutes later, Ryan Adams opened his collegiate goals account to give the Leopards a 3-0 lead and all but put the game out of reach of George Fox. Gonzalez chipped a pass outside to Christopher Wong, who crossed it past George Fox goalkeeper Ricardo Sotelo to a wide-open Adams.

In the 73rd minute, Uribe again found the back of the net from 15 yards out, this time surrounded by four defenders. "I got it from Nick [Lamar] and I took my chances and shot it," recalled Uribe.

La Verne travels to St. Katherine on Sunday to continue non-conference play. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
