LA MIRADA, Calif. — Melissa Cerrillos finished in the top-20 on the women's side, and Matthew Salas led the Leopards' men's team as the University of La Verne cross country teams competed in the SCIAC Multi-Duals Friday afternoon.
The men's team went 1-7, defeating Chapman University. The women's team finished 0-8.
Cerrillos had a solid race in the 6k. The junior finished 17th overall in the women's race with a time of 22:59.71.
Rachael Dela Cruz was the next finisher on the women's side, finishing with a time of 25:12.04. Ashley Garnica (26:14.88), Janice Deguerio (27:08.53), and Reiko Fujimoto (27:58.83) rounded out the scoring for La Verne.
In the men's race, Salas led the way finishing 38th overall with a time of 27:42.27.
Samuel Johnny finished second for the men with a time of 28:59.31.
Eric Lopez-Elwell (30:09.65), Marcelo Arcos (30:32.19), Luis Mendez (32:59.92) rounded out the scoring on the men's side.
