Women's Golf takes 9th at Bulldog Classic

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA — The University of La Verne women's golf team posted a ninth-place finish at the Bulldog Classic hosted by the University of Redlands at the S Club.

The Leopards, who have shown steady improvement throughout the season, were led by Katrina Kasenda's 169 in a tie for 41st. The freshman posted La Verne's low score of the tournament on day one when she carded an 82. 

Sophomore Alexi Gonzalez was the next best finisher for the Leopards, posting a 179. Freshman Alexandra Hauck showed consistency shooting an 89 in each round.

Fellow freshman Carly Nicholson showed big improvement between rounds, cutting 12 strokes off her card on day two to finish with a total score of 192.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took the team title and Jillian Drinkard of Methodist University won the individual title.

The Leopard squad made up entirely of underclassmen have continually progressed throughout the season and look to continue the trend when they return to conference action.

Next Round

La Verne competes next at SCIAC No. 2 hosted at Olivas Links Golf Course in Oxnard on April 6 and 7.
