Women's Soccer falls at Redlands, 2-1

REDLANDS, Calif. — Juna Bouchekara scored the first collegiate goal of her career but it wasn't enough for the La Verne women's soccer team in a 2-1 loss to Redlands on Wednesday night at Farquhar Field.

Redlands's Hanya Loskutoff played the spoiler. Loskutoff broke the scoring seal in the 75th minute with a hard shot from the top of the box and essentially sealed the game three minutes later when she scored her second goal of the game off a corner kick.

Bouchekara scored in the 85th minute after collecting a rebound off a free kick to keep the pressure on the Bulldogs there just wasn't enough time left for La Verne.

La Verne falls to 2-5-0 overall and 1-2-0 in SCIAC play. Redlands improves to 2-4-0 and 1-2-0.

Bouchekara was the most active player for La Verne offensively. She led the team with four total shots and had three of the on goal.

The Leopards were stingy on defense once again, keeping the Bulldogs at bay for 75 minutes, but the relentless pressure by the Bulldogs got the best of them. Redlands outshot La Verne, 30-13, and drew eight corner kicks to La Verne's two.

La Verne goalkeeper Heather Seman turned away eight shots and the field players blocked six more.

The Leopards return to action on Saturday at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
