LA VERNE, Calif. – The University of La Verne women's soccer team forced eight saves but it wasn't enough as Chapman blanked the Leopards, 3-0, at Ortmayer Stadium on Saturday night.
In a game that saw 19 fouls total, both teams stay aggressive and pushed hard, but only Chapman was able to capitalize. In the 13th minute, Lindsay Erl drilled one to the top right corner from 45 yards out, just out of reach of La Verne goalkeeper Heather Seman.
Chapman would again take advantage of a La Verne scramble as Elly Aronson cut in from the right side and beat Seman to the left post in the 34th minute.
The Panthers would add another after a big boot from Katie Bell sent the ball behind the Leopards defense. Bailee Cochran slipped past goalie Hanien Samara to roll it into the net and seal the deal.
Kindal Cubak, Jessica Hernandez, and Alexa Smith put the pressure on Chapman goalie Kristin Kleinow, combining for a total 10 of La Verne's 13 shots.
A header by Hernandez came the closest in the 2nd minute after a corner kick from Juna Bouchekara.
La Verne will return to action on Wednesday at Pomona-Pitzer.
