PASADENA — Hakim Arnold of the University of La Verne men's basketball team was named to the 2016 First Team All-SCIAC as voted by the conference's head coaches.
The junior averaged 17.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists in SCIAC play and emerged as one of the most versatile players in the SCIAC.
The 6-foot-2 guard recorded an impressive six double-doubles in league play and ranked top-six in points per game (6th), rebounds per game (3rd) and assists per game (6th). He scored at least 12 points in every SCIAC game but one and was deadly efficient on the floor, shooting 51.1 percent from the field.
His ability to consistently get his preferred shot--usually on the elbows or at the rim--at any given situation kept the Leopards in most games and opened up the floor for his teammates.
Arnold has improved every year he's been at La Verne and he will look to lead his team, which returns every player but two, to the SCIAC Postseason Tournament in 2017.
