KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Four members of the University of La Verne men's basketball were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court for excelling in the classroom this past season.
Brian Stiver, Kendall McClain, Brandon Langley and Jordan Stokes were among more than 650 student-athletes from 227 colleges and universities who earned Honors Court distinction.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows.
- Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2015-16
- academic year.
- Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
- Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach
Stiver graduated this past May with a Bachelor's in computer engineering. McClain and Langley are both majoring in business administration and will enter their senior seasons in in 2016-17. Stokes, also a rising junior, is majoring in biology.
