ORANGE, Calif. — Freshman Cole Currie led the Leopards with a career-high 22 points, and the University of La Verne men's basketball team stayed close with the Chapman Panthers.
But the Leopards couldn't pull even in the second half, falling 72-57 Saturday afternoon.
Currie went 10-19 from the field to finish in double figures for the sixth time this season. The La Crescenta native led La Verne with five rebounds and added two steals and an assist.
Jarid Taylor added nine points and senior Connor Head scored eight points.
Chapman was led by Rob Nelsen's 24 points.
Next Game: The Leopards next travel to Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday. Tip-off against the Sagehens is set for 7 p.m. at the Rains Center.
