REDLANDS, CA – The La Verne Leopards looked to win their first matchup since Sept. 18 against the Redlands Bulldogs Wednesday night, but those hopes dwindled late in the 3rd quarter as the Leos fell 20-14.

With both of the starting goalies out for the evening, freshman attacker Tristan Tippet was tasked to guard the net. A rather difficult task for a position player, Tippet stepped up and recorded five saves on the night and kept La Verne in the game for the most part.

Standout freshman Peter Trinh posted a game-high goal total with a whopping eight scores. It was also a season-high for Trinh who scored seven goals against Riverside City College in a 23-21 win on September 11. The freshman is La Verne's leading scorer on the season with 43 goals.

The Leopards trailed for most of the game but it felt as if they were on the cusp of taking the lead on numerous occasions.

After being down 9-5 midway through the second period, Jason Soo Hoo and Alam Barnuevo added a goal apiece lowering the Leo deficit to two. But from there Redlands slung in two goals of its own.

Down the stretch the Bulldogs pulled away, going on a 4-0 run and sealed the victory.

The Leopards now move to 2-10, 0-4 and with the win, the Bulldogs are 4-14, 1-3.

La Verne will look to bounce back and win its first SCIAC matchup Sat. October 16 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
