Freret Named All-West Region

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — La Verne first baseman Raven Freret was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-West Region on Saturday. It is the senior's third All-Region selection of her career. She was named to the Third Team after her freshman season and earned Second Team honors her sophomore year.

This year—even with a bad ankle—Freret hit.488 with 16 doubles, two home run and drove in 33 runs. She only struck out four times in 127 at bats.

In SCIAC play, Freret hit .511 (2nd in conference) with a league-leading 47 hits, 11 doubles (1st), a home run and 28 RBI (3rd). In addition, she posted the third-highest on-base percentage (.545) and slugging percentage (.685).

Freret will go down as one of the best players in SCIAC history. Earlier this week, Freret was named to First Team All-SCIAC for the third year in a row. She most likely would have earned the honors her freshman year as well if she weren't named the 2011 Rookie of the Year.

In her career, Freret hit over .450 and amassed 58 doubles, 17 home runs and 144 runs batted in.

Seven other players from the SCIAC made the All-Region squad.

The All-Region teams are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight Division III regions.
