COMMERCE, Calif. — Sara Bartelt and Amber DeLoye opened the meet with the 1 meter dive prelims and four La Verne relay teams took part in the opening day of the SCIAC Championships Wednesday at the Brenda Villa Aquatic Center.

In the men's 200 yard medley, the Leopards finished in eighth with the team of Lorenzo DeLeon, Guillermo Yanes, Javier De Santiago, and CJ Woodward touching at 1:39.19.

The women's 200 yard medley relay team of Mary Hanna, Rachel Fox, Kayla Yip, and Rachel Miyoga finished seventh with a time of 1:50.79.

DeLeon, De Santiago, Kristofer Grigorian, and Brandon Pon turned in a ninth place finish in the men's 800 yard freestyle relay at 7:18.79 

The Leopard took seventh in the women's 800 yard freestyle relay with Miyoga, Ashley MacAskill, Yip, and Fox coming in at 8:10.79.

La Verne is back in action tomorrow starting with morning preliminaries at 9 a.m.
