Whittier, California - The University of La Verne track and field team competed in the SCIAC Championships at Whittier College this past weekend. The weekend proved to be an early culmination of all the hard work and consistent performances as several Leopards placed in various events. As with SCIAC #1 and SCIAC #2, the SCIAC Championships gave the Leopards a stage to showcase their talents with elite competition. Competing at a high level, they were many personal records set by Leopards throughout the weekend. Head coach Kevin Reid was very pleased with the results and performances from his team through the SCIAC Championships.
"Overall I am very pleased with our performances at the SCIAC Championships this past weekend. Going into the weekend, we did not plan on stretching the team in a lot of events, we wanted to focus on our success as a team, being defined by individual excellence, and that is exactly what we did this weekend. Personal Best performances were the highlight of the weekend. The weekend was highlighted by Olivia Magby winning the SCIAC Championship in the High Jump. I am very proud of how this group competed, and what is yet to come over the next month as we press towards the NCAA Championships in Ohio"
