Leopards Fall Short to Yellowjackets in High-Scoring Showdown

LA VERNE, CA- The University of La Verne's Baseball Team hosted east coast college, Rochester, at Ben Hines Field.

The Yellowjackets cultivated a strong start to lead 3-0 beginning the bottom of the second but the Leopards were up for the challenge, tying up the score in the third inning, 3-3. Aiden Salcedo started off the game with two RBI hits up the middle and Benny Vogel used a fielding error to his advantage also landing him an RBI early in the match-up

The high-scoring fourth inning started with the Yellowjackets finding the pitch pattern and forcing the Leopards to use six different pitchers throughout the nine innings. Offensively, Jack Janes and Nathan Perry had a great fourth inning landing RBIs, 5-8. Multiple Leopards found themselves contributing to the scoreboard this afternoon with RBIs strategically batted by Noah Garcia and Logan Reese, inching closer to a tie game in the bottom of the fifth, 8-9.

As the game came to a close, Noah Garcia left the last run to a centercenter-field but didn't have enough men on the bases to provide scoring leverage. The game ended 9-11.

As the first game of a 3-game series, the Leopards put on a fight that prepares them for their doubleheader against Rochester this Saturday at Ben Hines field. The first game starts at 11 AM and the second follows soon after.
