Leopards Dominate in NCAA Round 2

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The University of La Verne dominated Lewis & Clark in game 2 of the NCAA Regional Championship tournament, defeating the Pioneers 19-4.

The Leopards took notes from yesterday's game, and showed up today ready to go. The first inning started off with some Pioneer errors that allowed Anthony Salcedo to score for the Leopards. Malachi Francois then doubled to right field for 2 RBIs, followed by Logan Reese who singled to right field to score Francois. Lewis & Clark put one up at botom of the inning, but wouldn't find traction again until the 8th. That's because the Leopards took over.

Scoring in every inning through the 7th, the Leopards put on a baseball showcase for the fans at Striplin Field.

Anthony Salcedo, Chase Siffert (2), Cameron Slessor, Francois (3), Noah Garcia (2), Logan Reese (2), and Ryan Vosika all had RBIs, and Matthew Diaz (2) went yard in the 5th inning with a 2-run homerun. Defensively La Verne posted 27 putous, including a diving catch in the outfield by Logan Reese.

Gerald Terry threw 7 innings and shut down the Pioneer offense allowing only one run, and Ian Wong finished off the Pioneers with the final 6 outs of the game.

The Leopards advance to the Championship game tomorrow at 9am PST (11am CST).
