AUSTIN, TX — The University of La Verne baseball team closed out a tough four-game road trip to Texas with a 10-3 win over No. 23 Concordia.
La Verne played a slate of four games including three against top-25 opponents. The Leopards narrowly fell to No. 3 Trinity (Tex.) 2-1, split a pair of games with Concordia, and slipped 8-5 against LeTourneau.
Season Impact
The Leopards move to 4-4 overall and will now begin SCIAC play.
La Verne unloaded 15 hits against the Tornados in the weekend finale. Jacob Benson led the way with an outstanding 4-4 performance at the plate with three RBIs and a run. He gave the Leopards the initial 1-0 lead in the second when he doubled in Jacob Freedman and added RBI singles in the fifth and sixth innings.
Designated hitter Aaron Fong produced three hits, two RBIs, and a run in the win for La Verne.
Sean Holt earned the win, going six innings in his start with three strikeouts. Brenden Bergen struck out two in one inning of relief.
Patrick Keller picked up three walks, stole two bases and scored a pair of runs for the Leopards. Keller is currently tied for first in the nation with eight stolen bases this season. Drew Reddick finished with a pair of hits including a double and swiped one bag.

Pitcher Gerald Terry stuck out 11 batters in six innings of relief against the No. 3 Tigers.
