La Verne, CA – A trio of Leopards managed to produce double-digit scoring performances in Monday night's loss to the first-place Pomona Pitzer Sagehens, who rallied past an early deficit to defeat the ULV men's basketball team 90-61 on senior night.
Seniors Isaiah Knox and Seth Shaw were honored before the game for their contributions to the men's basketball program on and off the court during their four years. Knox had his best scoring season during the 2022 campaign, averaging nearly nine points per game and tallying a career-high 23 in a victory against Whittier College this season. In the loss to Pomona Pitzer, Knox scored 10 points, grabbing six boards and dishing out two assists.
Seth Shaw recorded nine triple-double performances throughout his senior season, and shot 6-11 en route to 14 points against the Hens. He posted a 13.7 points-per-game average for the Leopards in 2022; his 28 points in La Verne's loss to the Poets in January was a career-best.
The Sagehens had little answers for the Leos' season-leading scorer Paul Antonis, who outshined everyone with 21 points. He blocked two Sagehens shot attempts and dished out a pair of assists while crashing the boards for four rebounds.
The Leopards finish their season with six overall wins, having played their best basketball down the season's stretch to keep themselves in the hunt for the SCIAC tournament. La Verne rounds out in ninth place, concluding conference play with a 3-11 SCIAC record.
