LA VERNE, CA – The University of La Verne Leopards looked to take home their first win of the season at home Sunday evening in a non-conference matchup against the California Lutheran University Kingsmen.

After a stalemate for the entire first half, the Kingsmen offense exploded for two goals accounting for the entirety of the offense, ending the game with a 2-0 Leopard loss (0-1-1).

The loss came after a tie in Saturday's home game against San Diego Christan, 0-0.

The offense was held at bay, only taking three shots — two on goal — throughout the matchup, while the Kingsmen fired off 21.

A bright spot for the Leopards' defense was Hector Duenas, a freshman goalie, who racked up five saves in the first 35 minutes of the game.

The Leopards will look to get back on track Saturday, September 11 when they travel to UC Santa Cruz for a tournament. They will face George Fox Saturday at 1 p.m. and Whitman on Sunday at 12 p.m.
