LA VERNE, CA — Jiana Rojo has been tabbed SCIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced.

Jiana Rojo led La Verne to a 2-1 week that saw the Leopards earn wins of 4-3 and 3-2 over Redlands. Rojo pitched eight innings a complete-game win over Redlands striking out four batters along the way and then went six innings the next day with one strikeout to seal the series win for La Verne. Rojo also had an outstanding series at the plate, finishing with four RBIs and three hits including a home run and a double.

Rojo has earned SCIAC Pitcher of the Week honors three times this season. She won the award after striking out eight batters in the Leopards' 8-0 season-opening win over St. Katherine and again after leading the Leopards to a pair of wins over Pacific Lutheran.

This is the seventh time a member of the La Verne softball team has earned SCIAC Athlete of the week honors. In addition to Rojo's three awards,  Rachel Rubio has earned pitching accolades and both Francheska Juarez and Katheryn Navarro have picked up hitting honors.

The Leopards are back in action on Friday, March 6 when they travel to Cal Lutheran for a 2 p.m. game.
