MacKay competes on 1-meter, wraps up career

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Scott MacKay of the University of La Verne swimming and diving team wrapped up his stellar career, finishing 24th on the 1-meter diving board at the 2016 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at Greensboro Aquatic Center.

MacKay, who was competing in his first national championship as a senior, scored an 11-dive total of 348.50 points. He finished 20th on the 3-meter board on Wednesday.

MacKay will leave La Verne as the best diver in school history. He owns three school records, became one of first two divers (Jacob Tittl '14) in La Verne history to qualify for regionals in 2014 and finally became the first Leopard diver to punch his ticket to the national championships this year.
