LA VERNE — The Leos had their best performance of the season thus far Sunday, Dec 19, in a 113-59 win over the Manchester Spartans.

Today's showcase marked the Leos' fourth consecutive win, and was a culmination of their hard work coming together.

Active on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, the players out hustled the Spartans, shooting the ball with precision while tenaciously rebounding on the inside.

La Verne's best scoring performance as a team, the team shot an impressive 47% from the field and 41% from the arc — numbers reminiscent of pro ball.

Five Leos finished the game in double figures. Casey Kuramoto led the way with 20, Marissa Howell had 18, Jazzlyn Johnson with 17, and Jaelynn Curley and Monica Garcia had 13 apiece.

Garcia saw her first action since the 2018-19 season when she averaged 15.9 points and nine rebounds. Picking up right where she left off, tonight Garcia shot over 50% from the field, and grabbed three steals and six rebounds. 

With the win, the Leos move to 7-3 on the season and 1-2 in SCIAC. The loss puts the Spartans at 5-3.

La Verne is back in action on Tuesday, Dec 21 at The Tents when it will host LIFE Pacific.
