LA VERNE, Calif. — The University of La Verne volleyball team made sure to start fast and beat Chapman, 25-21, 25-20, 21-25, 25-11, on Saturday afternoon at the Sports Science and Athletic Pavilion.

A slow start cost the Leopards at Chapman earlier in the season and led to a brief two match losing streak, but the Leopards have now won 10 in a row.

With another win added to the book, the Leopards improve to 18-4 overall and 9-2 in the SCIAC. Chapman falls to 10-11 and 5-7.

After soaring through the first two sets, La Verne was caught off guard in the 3rd but the Leopards came back and dominated the fourth set. The Leopards held the Panthers to just two kills in the final set for -.217 hitting.

Both teams exchanged points in the first two sets but La Verne came out on top using service aces and almost impenetrable defense at the net. The Leopards registered a total of 14 aces in the match and had an incredible 15 total blocks.

Tiffany Mancuso was everywhere today. She passed out 37 assists as per her usual, got in on six blocks and put away a staggering eight services aces to set the tone for La Verne.

La Verne's trio of Marisa Rojo, Kelsi Robinson and Delany Lynch combined for 31 kills to lead the Leoapards' attack.

Robinson added one solo block and nine block assists

Kristen Sanchez led the team with 13 digs.

The Leopards return to action on Tuesday at undefeated No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
