LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kelsi Robinson of the University of La Verne volleyball team has been named to the 2016 AVCA All-West Region Team and teammate Tiffany Mancuso was tabbed Honorable Mention. This is Robinson's second all-region honor and Mancuso's first.
The seniors have been two of the best players in the country at their respective positions this season.
Robinson, the 2016 SCIAC Volleyball Athlete of the Year, is enjoying the best season of her career and has become one of the most feared middle blockers in the nation. She is averaging 3.15 kills per set on a staggering .362 hitting -- both of which are career-highs -- and is averaging about one block per set. Her attacking percentage currently ranks 23rd in the NCAA Division III. She's also put down 34 service aces on the season, which is also a career best.
Mancuso has emerged as one of the best setters in the nation this season, passing out 10.97 assists per set, which is good for third individually in the country. Her passing has also enabled the Leopards to hit .261 as a team, which ranks sixth in the nation. She has registered 51 service aces on the season and has gotten in on 40 blocks. She named to First Team All-SCIAC.
The duo and the Leopards will take on No. 7 Southwestern (Texas) tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. PST in the first round of the NCAA Championship tournament. For complete information and preview of the matchup, CLICK HERE.
