Volleyball Falls to Regals

LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne volleyball team lost in straight sets to Cal Lutheran University on Tuesday night in the Sports Science Athletic Pavilion. They could not build upon their win over Whittier College on Friday and have fallen to eighth in the SCIAC standings.

Set Scores: 25-17, 25-16, 25-14

Despite the Leos' troubles in the game, Ayana Mier was a bright spot with 10 kills and a .318 kill percentage. Mier has a team-leading 146 kills on the season. Jordyn Patton led La Verne offensively with 22 assists. Patton and Madison Smith led the team in digs with 10 and 12 respectively. Julia Thomas had three of the Leos' 11 blocks.

Sophia Muller and Lauren Heller were the leading scorers for Cal Lu. Isabella Wade haunted the Leo attackers with 14 digs, including several stunning ones that kept points off the board for La Verne.

The Leopards drop to 5-8 overall and 1-5 in the SCIAC. Cal Lutheran improves to 6-11 overall and 4-3 in the conference.

The Leos will look to leapfrog the seventh place Caltech Beavers in the standings with a win on Friday at 7:00 pm in Pasadena.
