PASADENA — Jacqueline Rojas and Hailey Westwood of the University of La Verne women's water polo team were named to Second Team All-SCIAC after leading the Leopards to the best season in recent memory. Rojas was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team

Rojas notched a total of 23 goals in the season while providing steady guidance as a senior leader.

Westwood, who was the only freshman on the team this season, made an immediate impact as the Leopards' netminder and played a big factor in La Verne's wins. In the Leopards' seven wins, Westwood made an average of 10 saves per game.

Behind Rojas and Westwood, the Leopards notched five SCIAC wins for the first time in recent memory and earned their first wins over Cal Lutheran and Occidental in nearly a decade. The Leopards finished fifth overall in the SCIAC standings.

Alyssa Woodward of Pomona-Pitzer was awarded Athlete of the Year and Morgan McCracken, also of Pomona-Pitzer, was named Newcomer of the Year. Whittier's Justin Pudwill was named Coach of the Year after leading the Poets to their first ever SCIAC Championship.
