LOS ANGELES, CA — The University of La Verne men's soccer team battled with Occidental in a defensive struggle Wednesday night in Eagle Rock.
But the Tigers were able to sneak in the lone goal of the game late in the first half to beat the Leopards 1-0.
Kevan Rehmani made a spectacular diving save with just over a minute and a half left in the first half and it looked like that would be enough to send the game to the break tied 0-0. But just 20 seconds later the Tigers' Jake Foster found the back of the net in what proved to be the game winner.
La Verne gave the Tigers all they could handle in the first half rallying off nine shots including six on goal. James Coe and James Metoyer each finished with two shots on goal. Rehmani finished with two saves.
Season Impact
