LA VERNE, CA — The University of La Verne flirted with the goal all night but couldn't find the back of the net and tied with the Caltech Beavers 0-0.
The Leopards continually bombarded the Beavers, rallying off 22 shots in the game including 11 in the second half alone. The ball just missed the top off the net a frustratingly amount of time for La Verne.
Forward Johnny DeRueda led the Leopards with four shots on goal including the Leopards' final attempt of the game with under four minutes left in the final overtime period. Jovanni Garcia unleashed seven shots in the game with two on goal.
The Leopards had eight corner kick opportunities in the game but the Caltech defense held each time. Max Popken led the Beavers with 10 saves in the game.
La Verne's defense did its part to keep Caltech off the board. Kevan Rehmani had a big game in goal for the Leopards, recording five saves.
La Verne moves to 9-7-1 overall and 4-5-1 in SCIAC play. Caltech now stands at 2-11-1 overall and 2-8-1 in the conference.
