LOS ANGELES — The University of La Verne track and field teams competed Saturday and the Occidental Distance Carnival and Sprint Fest.
Cambria Serrano led the Leopards with a second place finish in the javelin with her best throw reaching 99-06. The junior also took 8th in the discus and second among Division III competitors with a throw of 117-10.
Melissa Cerrillos had a solid race in the 3000m steeplechase taking seventh overall and second among DIII runners with a time of 11:17.58.
On the men's side, the Leopards had a solid performance in the field events. Matthew Pedroza was the top DIII finisher in the shot put with a throw of 41-06.50. Michael Brown finished first among DIII competitors in the discus at 132-06 and was 14th overall in the shot put at 37-03.
Joseph Azucena had a solid race in the 110m hurdles crossing the finish line with a time of 17.06.
Next Meet: La Verne is back in action next Saturday, March 17 when they compete at the Redlands Invite.
