Track and Field Competes in NC and Rossi Relays

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Jade Griffin and Matthew Salas posted wins at the JDL DMR Invitational as the Leopards competed as a split squad in North Carolina and at the annual Rossi Relay hosted in Claremont, CA.

Griffin led the way for the Leopards in Winston-Salem, winning the 200m dash with a time of 25.31. Griffin's time puts her sixth in the nation in the 200m.

Salas added a win of his own in the 800m run, besting the competition with a time of 1:57.91.

Patrick Cornwell took sixth in the 400m finals, crossing the finish line with a time of 51.79. Alexander Medina took 15th overall and third from DIII competitors in the 3000m finishing at 8:57.81.

In the jumps, Anthony Carter took fifth overall and was the best DIII athlete with a distance of 21-06.

The Leopards took fourth in the men's 4x400 relay with Cornwell, Terrence Robinson, Carter, and Salas finishing at 3:36.03.

In Claremont, Matthew Pedroza took seventh overall and first among DIII competitors in the shot put with his best mark at 46-10.00. Pedroza was the number two DIII finishing in the hammer throw with a distance of 146-09.

Elizabeth Prevedello took 10th in the 100m hurdles and was the third-best NCAA Division III runner with a time of 15.43. Prevedello finished fourth among DIII athletes in the long jump with a distance of 16-07.75.

Jonathan Lewis was the best DIII runner in the 110m hurdles, finishing with a time of 15.44. Andrew Lemus took the top DIII spot in the javelin with his best throw coming in at 144-11.
