Track and Field Competes at APU

AZUSA, CA — A handful of Leopards from the University of La Verne track and field squad took part at the Azusa Pacific University Last Chance meet over the weekend.

The group was led by SCIAC Champion Subdue Ezinwa fresh off his conference title in the discus. Ezinwa scored a top-10 finish in the discus and finished first among Division III athletes with a throw of 40.41m (132'7").

Zachary Reid was the top DIII finisher and eighth overall in the 110m hurdles. Reid shaved some time off of his second place finish at the SCIAC Championships, where he earned a podium spot with a time of 15.66, crossing the finish line on Saturday with a time of 15.59.

In the distance events, Michael Sahagun posted a time of 15:26.79 in the 5,000m run. In the 10,000m, Edward Carrillo finished with a time of 33:33.61.

Next Meet

The Leopards have one more opportunity to earn qualifying marks for the NCAA Championships when they travel to Redlands on Wednesday and Thursday for the Redlands Final Qualifier.
