PASADENA — Hayley Jaquess of the University of La Verne softball team was named the SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week after pitching a no-hitter against Cal Lutheran on Feb. 13.
Hayley Jaquess came within inches of perfection, with the only "blemish" coming in the third inning when she hit a batter. Jaquess struck out five in five innings while consistently inducing weak contact and the Regals only managed to get the ball out of the infield once.
The Highland native made one other appearance this season, throwing a clean inning in a 8-0 win over St. Katherine on Jan. 27.
She has six strikeouts with a 0.00 ERA in six innings on the season.
Jaquess and the Leopards are on the road on Saturday at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
