LA VERNE, CA- University of La Verne's Swim team hosted their last swim meet at Las Flores Park against the Whittier Poets this Saturday. Closing out their races at Las Flores,  multiple racers looked very strong this morning.

To start off the morning, La Verne's 200-yard medley relay highlighted the freshmen skill from the Leopard team with three freshmen on the Women's A-team; Maddie Grove, Cassie Grinstead, and Mahyla Reyes. Senior, Emma Vu, supported her A-team in the breaststroke split.

In the longest race of the day, Freshman Mahyla Reyes battled Poet's swimmer in the Women's 1000-yard Freestyle. Reyes used consistency to her favor and steadied thirty eight second 50-yard splits throughout the forty lap race.

Later, Leopard backstroker Maddie Grove dominated both backstroke events of the day. As a freshman, Grove controlled the pool in her backstroke races with a 100-yard time: 1:05.85 and 200-yard time: 2:28.55.

Freshman, Marcus Montoya was the only Leopard to tackle the Men's 200-yard butterfly and completed with a 2:22.80.

With the La Verne freshmen commanding the pool deck, the Leopards host the annual Winter Collegiate Invite at East Los Angeles College on November 18th -20th.
