The University of La Verne women's basketball team concluded action at the Hampton Inn Classic with a 73-47 defeat to George Fox University Sunday in Santa Cruz.
La Verne (2-3) trailed 36-23 in the first half and made just eight field goals over the final 20 minutes. The Leopards shot 32.1% (17-53) for the game.
The Bruins (3-2), ranked ranked 20th in the latest WBCA poll and 21st by D3hoops.com, shot 52.5% (32-61) from the field, collected 44 rebounds and totaled 46 points in the paint.
Hayley Cusick paced the Bruins with game-highs of 19 points and 6 rebounds while Jenni Roos added 13 points. All-America center Hannah Munger collected 5 points, 5 blocks and 3 rebounds for George Fox in limited action.
Tyne McClure led La Verne in scoring with 11 points to go along with 5 rebounds. Kayla Cribbs and Amanda Copas each added 8 points while Lindsey Foster tallied 7 points in the contest.
La Verne will next be in action on Thursday night as it resumes SCIAC action against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Frantz Athletic Court in a 7:30 pm start.
