LA VERNE, CA — Monica Garcia Silva was named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week and earned SCIAC Women's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week honors after her spectacular performance against Occidental.

Garcia Silva had a monster game in La Verne's 93-84 win over Occidental. The guard dropped 48 points off 59 percent shooting and grabbed 18 rebounds in the victory. The Los Angeles native scored 31 of her points in the second half as the Leopards pulled away midway through the fourth quarter. Silva went 10-13 from the line and also dished out six assists in the win. Her scoring performance was the second highest single-game points total in La Verne history.
The Leopards are back in action on December 17 when they host Northern New Mexico at 3 p.m.
