CLAREMONT, Calif. — A select group of distance runners of La Verne track and field teams competed in the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet on Saturday.
Highlighting the meet for the women were Melissa Cerrillos and Kimmy Kabluyen.
Cerrillos, a freshman who had the top finish for the women's cross country team at the 2015 SCIAC Cross Country Championship, came in 10th in the mile run with a time of 5:20.72 was was the third NCAA Division III finisher.
Kabluyen finished eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.46 and came in 17th in the 200 meters at 26.74.
Andrea Valdez came in 52nd with a time of 12:10.39 in the 3000 meters.
David Sincock posted the best finish on the men's side, coming in 22nd in the mile with a time of 4:29.09. Mario Martinez finished 64th in the same race at 4:49.17, Michael Castillo was 82nd (5:08.00) and Damon Gomez finished at 5:09.83 for 84th.
Samuel Johnny and Antonio Rivera ran the 3000 meters and finished 49th (9:20.96) and 56th (9:32.15), respectively.
The Leopards are back in action at Ross Relays, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, next Saturday.
