NEW ORLEANS — Catalina Lee Kim was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual and the University of La Verne Women's Track and Field Team earned All-Academic Team honors the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced.
Lee Kim adds another accolade to her illustrious Leopard career with her second All-Academic honor. The hurdler and jumper finished her career with five All-West Region honors and five All-SCIAC performances including her 2017 SCIAC Championship in the triple jump. Lee Kim narrowly missed earning All-American honors at the 2018 Outdoor Track and Field Championships finishing 10th in the 100m hurdles.
She leaves with her name atop the La Verne record book in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.34. Lee Kim was named the Jesse Iles Scafani Female Athlete of the Year at the 2018 Senior Blanket Awards.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and must have met at least one of the following athletic standards: competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship and/or finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
A total of 627 women earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2017-18 track & field seasons.
The La Verne Women's Track and Field team earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors for the second year in a row. To be considered, teams must finish with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.1 or better. The Leopards squad finished with a GPA of 3.25.
