CLAREMONT, CA — The University of La Verne men's and women's track and field team competed in a field of schools from all divisions in the annual Rossi Relays hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Melissa Cerrillos scored the best individual performance of the meet for the Leopards. The senior finished second overall and first among DIII runners in the 3000m run with a time of 10:05.52. Cerrillos finished only behind Zita Molnar (9:58.06) from DII Point Loma.
Jessica Portillo was the top DIII finisher in the 400m hurdles crossing the finish line with a time of 1:08.89.
Bella Lincon was third among DIII competitors in the hammer with a distance of 103-08 (31.60m).
In the 110m hurdles, Nathan Bradley took third from the DIII runners with a time of 16.73.
Reigning SCIAC Athlete of the Week Matthew Pedroza took 13th overall and third from DIII throwers in the shot put with a final mark of 43-05.57 (13.25m). He also was the third best DIII athlete in the hammer throw with a distance of 130-01 (39.64m).
Yesterday, heptathlete Elizabeth Prevedello scored a third place finish at the Oklahoma Baptist Last Chance Indoor meet. The graduate transfer totaled 3,060 points recording her best performances in the 60m hurdles, high jump, and long jump. Prevedello took second in each of the events, finishing with a time of 9.44 in the hurdles, 1.53m in the high jump, and 5.09 in the long jump.
