LA VERNE, Calif. — Jasmine Bustamante racked up two late goals in the fourth quarter to lead the La Verne women's water polo team to an 11-9 win against Cal Lutheran on Wednesday at Las Flores Park.

After Cal Lutheran climbed its way back into the game after a first half deficit, Bustamante came alive and chipped one in off an assist by Ardelle Aquino with 4:31 left in the game to give the Leopards a 10-8 lead. Cal Lutheran's Mardell Ramirez answered with lob shot goal on the next possession, but Bustamante put away another one off an assist by Rosero with 1:49 left to go to seal the game.

Bustamante finished with four goals and Stephanie Rosero also added four goals.

Rosero did all of her damage early as she scored all of her goals in the first half to stake the Leopards out to an 8-4 first half lead. She controlled the offense with her passing as well, adding three assists.

Megan Little added three goals. Guarina Garcia was held without a goal but limited the Regals scoring opportunities with six steals.

Cal Lutheran rattled off four unanswered goals starting with a first half buzzer beater but La Verne never gave up the lead.

Victoria Rose Meek and Christin Hirn each tallied two goals for the Regals.

The Leopards are back in action Saturday at Chapman at 11 a.m.
