Oyeku scores 12 against Poets

LA VERNE, CA — Segun Oyeku led the Leopards off the bench, Sinai Enoch also finished in double figures, but the University of La Verne men's basketball team dropped their first game of 2019 at Whittier 113-65.

Oyeku has been coming into his own in his last few games. The freshman from Georgia has finished in double figures in three of the last four games in which he's played. Oyeku finished 5-9 from the field with a pair of rebounds.

Sinai Enoch added 11 points with a three-pointer, one assist, and one rebound. Luke Edwards and Max Karim each totaled six rebounds and six points. 

Alec Vucinich contributed nine points and five rebounds. Isaiah Knox added nine points off the bench.

The Poets were led by Conner Longmire's 20 points. The Leopards couldn't stop Whittier's hot with the Poets finishing 61.1 percent from the floor and 50 percent from beyond the arc.

Season Impact

The Leopards fall to 1-9 overall and 0-2 in SCIAC play. The Poets improve to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Next Game

The Leopards return this Saturday, January 5 when they host the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens at 4 p.m.
