Leopards fall to Chapman

LA VERNE, CA — Evan Gustafson and Sinai Enoch each finished in double figures but it wasn't enough as the University of La Verne men's basketball team fell to Chapman 71-60.

Gustafson twice got the Leopards to within nine points of Chapman's lead in the final two minutes. With 53 seconds to play, the senior added a reverse layup under the hoop to put the score at 69-60. Cam Haslam added a pair of free throws on the other end of the floor to put the Panthers back up by 11 with 43 seconds left in the game to seal the win. Gustafson finished with a team-high 16 points and added five rebounds, one assist, and one block.

Enoch totaled 15 points and one assist. Segun Oyeku had a solid game off the bench scoring eight points with three steals. The freshman went end to end late in the game, snagging a Chapman inbound pass and taking it to the hoop. Jordan Allen scored eight points and Alec Vucinich finished with seven points and four boards.

The Panthers were led by Cam Haslam's 23 points.

Season Impact

The Leopards drop to 1-13 overall this season and 0-6 in conference play. Chapman improves to 7-8 overall and 3-3 in the SCIAC

Next Game

The Leopards continue their three-game home stretch on Wednesday when they host the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen at 7 p.m.
