NORMAN, Okla. — Kelby Scharmann of the University of La Verne men's golf team was selected as a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar for the 2014-15 academic year by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 79.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2.
The recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Scharmann won the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Individual National Championship and averaged 71.81 strokes per round this season and won at least a share of three additional individual medalist honors. He did not finish below 15th in any event. The Trabuco Canyon, Calif., native was also named the 2015 Lee Fulmer SCIAC Athlete of the Year and earned a spot on the 2015 Academic All-SCIAC Team.
