LOS ANGELES – Five La Verne athletes competed against some of the best collegiate and professional athletes at the Oxy Distance Carnival and Sprints Festival, hosted by the Occidental College.
Michael Ramirez started the Leos off in the 800 meter dash and took 2nd in his heat and placed 52nd place overall. He finished with a time of 2:02.74.
Jahi Gaines ran a time of 4:07.94 in the 1500 meters, taking 2nd in his heat and 37th overall.
Brian Hayes, Tanner Long, and Jayden Earlywine all competed in the 5000-meter run. Hayes took 2nd in his heat and 29th overall, finishing the race in 15.10.71. Long also took 2nd in his heat and finished 52nd over all with a time of 15:29.17. Earlywine clocked a 15.44.50 for a 2nd place finish in his heat and an overall finish of 72nd place.
The Leopards return to action on Saturday, March 29 at the Ortmayer Stadium when they host the second SCIAC Quad Meet.
