CLAREMONT, Calif. – It was another long and tiring weekend for the University of La Verne track and field teams at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday.

There were a staggering 17 heats of the women's 100-meter dash and you bet that some of the Lady Leopards had to wait before it was their time.

Ebony Williams performed well with a time of 12.64 seconds coming in nineteenth place overall. Nicole Crutchfield and Tiahna Gillion finished in a two-way tie for 23rd place overall with a time of 12.71 seconds.

Competing with a mix of unattached and upper-division athletes, Jasmin Gonzalez brought her A game and placed 12th overall in the 400 meter hurdles a 1:07.42.

La Verne got solid performances from the track, but more impressive results came from the field.

In the pole vault, Katie Yeager and Taylor Bernhard were caught in nine-way tie for fourth place. Both Yeager and Bernhard vaulted 11-05.75 (3.50m).

In the triple jump Lindsey Foster jumped a new personal record of 34-07.00 (10.54m) and placed 9th overall.

Deanna Doss and Jaclyn Castleberry continued to do great things in the shot put, discuss, and hammer throw.

Doss competed in a total of three events. The senior had a mark of 34-07.50 (10.55m) in the shot put, placing her 13th overall. In the discus she threw a mark of 126-07 (38.58m) for 10th place overall. In her third and final event, Doss powered her way to a 6th place finish with a mark of 161-06 (49.24m).

The men continued on with solid performances on the track and on the field.

All-American Chancise Watkins, who owns the fastest time in the 200 meters in Division III this year, won the event with a time of 21.45 seconds. In the 100, Watkins took 6th overall with a time of 10.85 seconds. Watkins continues to prove that he can run with the best at any level of competition.

Tanner Long showed why he is a top competitor on the track in the long and tiring 5000 meter race, finishing 3rd overall with a time of 15:14.40.

The men's 4x400 meter relay took 9th overall with a final time of 3:34.44.

The field performances continued to hold strong.
