LA VERNE, Calif. — Maddie Lovrensky of the University of La Verne women's swimming and diving team was named the SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week as voted by the conference's sports information directors.
Lovrensky won three individual championships at the 2015 SCIAC Swimming and Diving Championships and was named the Female Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row.
The senior swept both backstroke events to go out undefeated in all SCIAC backstroke events -- dual and championship -- that she's competed in her four-year career. On Friday, she won the first of her championships in the 50 yard freestyle, just out-touching Kelly Ngo of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 23.62 seconds. She beat out Ngo again on Saturday to defend her 100 backstroke title with a time of 55.59 and completed her four-year backstroke sweep on Sunday with a dominant win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.78.
Over the weekend, Lovrensky broke La Verne records in the 50 freestyle, the 200 freestyle, and the 100 backstroke. She also broke two more as a part of the women's 200 medley and 800 freestyle relay teams.
Lovrensky will now turn her attention to the 2015 NCAA National Championships where she will look to add to her already massive legacy.
