The University of La Verne women's basketball team moved to 2-2 on the season after earning an 86-67 road win at UC Santa Cruz Friday night at West Fieldhouse.
The Leopards connected on 13 three-point baskets against the Banana Slugs while making 21 of 28 free throw attempts in the second half.
Senior Mayra Duenas and sophomore Amanda Copas each posted 16 points and 5 rebounds while freshman Kelly Kika dropped in 5 three-point field goals en route to a 15-point night. Junior forward Clarissa Holz pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds in the win. Holz, Copas and Teresa Fatai each recorded 4 steals against UCSC.
La Verne continues action in Santa Cruz on Saturday as they take on NAIA member Lewis & Clark State University at 1 pm.
