Women's Basketball falls to Cal Lutheran, 83-68

LA VERNE, Calif. — Kayla Chism had a career-high 19 points and Tiffany Hicks was 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, but the University of La Verne women's basketball team could not slow down Cal Lutheran's offense in an 83-68 loss at Frantz Court on Wednesday night.

The Regals shot 50 percent from the field and Jessica Salottolo led the way with 29 points on 12-of-18 shooting.

The Regals scored 14 of the game's first 16 points and had an answer for every La Verne run to keep the Leopards at bay.

The Leopards trimmed the deficit to 10 points after hitting six of 10 shots to open the second half, but the Regals responded with a 10-2 run to get out to 64-46 lead and the Leopards never got closer.

Chism had the best game of her career. She made strong moves to the basket, made tough jumpers and made her presence felt inside. She added seven rebounds to go along with her 19 points.

Hicks had another strong game off the bench and finished with 14 points, five rebounds and two steals.

Chelsea Jacoby and Taylor Messick each had 14 points for the Regals.
