PASADENA — Emily Myers of the University of La Verne women's basketball was named Second Team All-SCIAC on Thursday as voted by the league's head coaches. This is the second year in a row Myers was named one of the best players in the SCIAC.
The 5-foot-11 junior was La Verne's most consistent performer throughout the season and finished sixth in the SCIAC in scoring with 14.2 points per game and fifth in rebounding with 7.7 per game.
Myers was even better down the stretch as La Verne fought for a spot in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament, averaging 16 points and 8.3 rebounds in her last eight games.
In addition, Myers topped the 20-point mark on seven different occasions and registered seven double-doubles on the season.
Conference champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took home three of the four individual awards. Kimberly Scamman earned the SCIAC Athlete of the Year honors, Kailee Severt was named the Newcomer of the Year and Kristen Dowling was tabbed the Coach of the Year.
Bridget Connor of Caltech received the Ed Baldwin Sportsmanship Award.
