Turnovers hurt Leopards in loss to Chapman

LA VERNE, Calif. — Clarissa Perez scored 11 points but the Chapman Panthers surged ahead in the second quarter, beating the Leopards 89-54 Saturday evening.

Kayla Chism added eight points and finished with four rebounds. Perez grabbed three boards and totaled two steals.

Caroline Jogwe scored seven points with a three-pointer. Nyjeeiah Ganan finished with six points. 

Janice Deguerio added four rebounds and four points in 14 minutes off the bench.

Turnovers and second-chance points hurt La Verne. The Panthers turned the Leopards turnovers into 32 points and scored 22 second-chance points. 

Lucy Criswell led Chapman with 19 points.

Season Impact: The Leopards drop to 3-10 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Chapman improves to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in SCIAC play.

Next Game: The Leopards next host SCIAC opponent Redlands on Wednesday, January 10 at p.m. The Bulldogs come into the game 2-3 in the SCIAC and 6-7 overall.
